The second cabinet meeting was held on October 19 hosted by the Irving DFW Indian Lions and
the Coppell Lions Club in Coppell. The meeting was well attended with featured speaker Dr
Aquino of UT Southwestern Medical Center who spoke extensively on Pediatric Cancer.
Breakout sessions included District Charities, MyLion training and others. The GLT conducted
Membership Chair training on August 24 at the Brookhaven College. About 54 Lions attended
the workshop. This was followed by Zone Chair training on September 7th. The district has done
a great job in training Lions. Over 200 Incoming officers and new lions have been trained
including those trained at 2-X1 Lions University. District 2-X1 set up a Volunteer Reception
Center during the Tornado that hit Dallas area. Vision screening for most of Head Start schools
was conducted by the Dallas Filipino Lions Club. In recognition of Diabetes month in November
a Community Diabetes Expo and Health fair was organized by Lions of Zone 6 and 7 Chaired by
Lion Gloria Mathur and Coordinated by 2VDG Esmeralda Rodriguez. Over 400 children and
parents attended the event. An X’mas social was organized by the district leadership team.
