About the Speaker: Dr. DeFronzo is a distinguished clinician, teacher and investigator who has been an invited speaker at major national & international conferences on diabetes mellitus. His major interest focus on the pathogenesis and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus & the central role of insulin resistance in the metabolic cardiovascular cluster of disorders known as the Insulin Resistance syndrome. He had authored over 900 articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals. For his work in this area. Dr. DeFronzo received many prestigious awards national and international. Recently he received the Prince Mahidol Award, given to a person in medicine & science worldwide who has made major outstanding achievements leading to global improvement in health care. Also he is the recipient of the Barry Brenner Memorial Award from the American Society of Nephrology in recognition of his invention of SGLT2 inhibitor class drugs.
